500g Coffee Bean Premade Pouch Packaging Line with 3-Head Weighing System and Coding Machine

For a coffee producer, packaging is not only about putting beans into a bag.

The complete process also includes accurate dosing, stable pouch handling, clean sealing, date or batch coding, and smooth transfer of the finished package.

This is why we normally look at a coffee bean packaging project as a complete production process rather than selecting the packing machine alone.

In this recent test, INNOV configured a 3-head granule premade pouch packaging machine with a coding machine for 500g roasted coffee beans packed in gusseted coffee bags.

The video shows the actual coffee beans, premade bags and finished packages used during the machine test.

Project Requirement: Pack 500g Coffee Beans into Premade Gusseted Bags

The customer's product in this project is roasted coffee beans.

The target package is a 500g premade gusseted coffee bag.

Compared with simple pillow bags made directly from roll film, premade coffee bags already have their final printed appearance and bag structure before entering the packaging process.

This means the packaging equipment needs to handle the finished pouch carefully while completing several operations in sequence:

product weighing → pouch handling → bag opening → coffee bean filling → sealing → coding → finished bag discharge

For this project, a three-head granule weighing system was combined with the premade pouch packing section and coding equipment.

The objective was not simply to fill one bag successfully.

The complete system needed to repeatedly produce finished coffee packages with the required weight and packaging appearance.

3-Head Granule Weighing System for Coffee Beans

Coffee beans are a typical free-flowing granular product, but accurate portioning is still important.

If every 500g bag contains unnecessary excess product, the loss can become significant over a long production run.

If the amount is too low, the finished package may not meet the required specification.

The packaging line therefore starts with the weighing and dosing section.

In this project, the machine uses a 3-head granule weighing configuration.

Coffee beans are supplied to the upper feeding and weighing area and measured before being discharged into the premade pouch.

Using a dedicated weighing system separates the dosing process from bag handling.

The packaging machine can therefore focus on moving, opening, filling and sealing the pouch while the weighing section prepares the next portion of coffee beans.

For factories running regular production, this coordination between weighing and packing is more important than evaluating either part independently.

Premade Pouch Packaging for Gusseted Coffee Bags

Coffee packaging places high demands on the appearance of the finished bag.

The pouch may already contain printed branding, product information and graphics, so poor bag handling can affect the final presentation.

During the test shown in the video, the system works with printed gusseted coffee bags prepared for the customer's coffee product.

After the required amount of coffee beans has been measured, the premade pouch is positioned for filling.

The beans are discharged into the open bag, after which the pouch proceeds to the sealing stage.

The result is a finished package that combines accurate product dosing with the customer's existing printed coffee bag.

For coffee brands, contract packers and roasting factories, this is particularly useful when the bag design itself is an important part of the finished product.

Why the Coding Machine Is Part of the Packaging Line

Packaging does not end when the bag is sealed.

Most commercial coffee products also require variable information such as:

production date;

batch number;

lot number;

expiry or best-before date;

or other traceability information.

This information changes during production, so it normally cannot be preprinted together with the fixed bag design.

For that reason, a coding machine is integrated as supporting equipment in the packaging process.

Instead of treating coding as a separate manual operation after packaging, the coder can work together with the packing line.

This creates a more complete workflow:

Weigh the coffee beans.
Fill the premade pouch.
Seal the package.
Print the required variable information.
Discharge the finished coffee bag.

For a factory, combining these operations can reduce repeated product handling and make the production process easier to organize.

A Packaging Machine Should Not Be Selected Alone

When customers contact us about a coffee bean packaging project, the first question should not simply be:

“What packing machine do you recommend?”

The more useful questions are:

What type of coffee is being packed?

What is the required bag weight?

What type of premade pouch is being used?

What are the pouch dimensions?

Does the bag have a side gusset or another special structure?

What information needs to be coded?

What production capacity is required?

Does the customer need additional inspection or conveying equipment?

These details determine how the complete line should be configured.

For this 500g coffee bean project, the solution combines the granule weighing unit, premade pouch packing machine and coding machine rather than treating each machine as a separate purchase.

Supporting Equipment Can Be Added Around the Main Packaging Machine

The main premade pouch packing machine is the center of the packaging process, but different factories may require different supporting equipment.

Depending on the customer's product and production layout, a coffee bean packaging line can also be configured with equipment such as:

  • product feeding or lifting equipment;
  • granule weighing and dosing system;
  • premade pouch packing machine;
  • coding or date-printing machine;
  • finished-bag conveyor;
  • checkweigher;
  • metal detector;
  • and other downstream packaging equipment.

Not every production line needs every machine.

The correct configuration depends on the customer's actual process.

For example, a small roasting factory may mainly need automatic weighing, pouch filling, sealing and coding.

A larger production facility may also require product feeding, weight inspection, metal detection and automatic downstream conveying.

This is why we prefer to discuss the complete packaging process before confirming the final machine configuration.

Why Line Matching Matters

Adding several machines together does not automatically create a good production line.

The machines need to work at compatible speeds.

The discharge height of one section needs to match the next.

The pouch needs to remain stable as it moves through filling, sealing, coding and discharge.

The coding position must also match the design of the customer's bag.

If one section frequently stops or cannot keep pace with the rest of the equipment, the efficiency of the entire line is affected.

For this reason, INNOV evaluates packaging equipment and supporting machines as one system whenever a customer requires a complete line.

The goal is not to install as many machines as possible.

The goal is to make the packaging process practical for the customer's actual production.

More Than Coffee Beans

Although this project was tested with 500g roasted coffee beans, the same type of granule premade pouch packaging solution can be considered for many other free-flowing granular products.

Examples include:

nuts;

seeds;

grains;

pet food;

candy;

snacks;

dry food ingredients;

and selected industrial granules.

However, the weighing system and packaging configuration should always be confirmed according to the actual product.

Particle size, product flow, target weight, bag dimensions and required production speed can all affect the final configuration.

Actual product and bag testing is therefore recommended before a production solution is finalized.

What Should You Send Us for a Similar Packaging Project?

If you are planning a premade pouch packaging line, providing actual product and bag information makes machine selection much more accurate.

The most useful information includes:

Product:
Coffee beans, nuts, grains or another granular product.

Target weight:
For example, 250g, 500g or 1kg per bag.

Bag type:
Premade pouch, gusseted bag, stand-up pouch or another bag structure.

Bag dimensions:
Width, length and gusset dimensions if applicable.

Bag samples or photos:
Especially important for special-shaped or gusseted pouches.

Coding requirement:
Production date, batch number, expiry date or other information.

Required capacity:
Expected bags per minute or bags per hour.

Additional equipment:
Feeding, conveying, coding, weight inspection, metal detection or other processes.

With this information, the packaging line can be configured around the actual product instead of simply selecting a standard machine from a catalog.

From One Packing Machine to a Complete Coffee Packaging Solution

This 500g coffee bean test demonstrates an important point:

A packaging project is rarely only about the main packing machine.

The weighing system determines how the product is dosed.

The premade pouch machine handles filling and sealing.

The coding machine adds production and traceability information.

Supporting equipment connects these processes into a more complete production workflow.

For coffee roasters, food manufacturers and contract packaging companies, planning these machines together can make future production easier to operate and expand.

INNOV provides packaging machinery as well as supporting equipment for integrated packaging lines.

If you are planning a coffee bean or other granule packaging project, send us your product, target weight, bag samples, coding requirements and expected production capacity.

We can evaluate the complete packaging process and recommend a suitable line configuration.
